Around 3.5 Tons of Bread and Food Wasted Daily in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Approximately 3.5 tons of bread and food are discarded daily in Tashkent, the Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy Development reported.
According to the agency, the total volume of municipal waste in the capital reaches 3–3.5 thousand tons per day, with roughly 0.1% consisting of food products.
In 2025, the city collected 1.1 million tons of waste. Waste collection services cover 755,000 subscribers, with outstanding payments for services reaching 19.9 billion soums.
The agency noted that public awareness campaigns have significantly reduced the amount of bread and food being thrown away. Special containers have been placed at all collection points to facilitate separate disposal of food waste.
