Archive documents exhibition “Uzbekistan’s contribution to Victory” starts in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An international historic-documental exhibition of archive documents “Uzbekistan’s contribution to Victory” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of victory in the World War II and the Year of attention and care for elder people opened in Tashkent on 22 June 2015.

Russian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Vladimir Tyurdenev, Deputy Director of the Federal Archive Agency ("Rosarchiv") Vladimir Tarasov, General Director of the Agency Uzarhiv under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan Abdushukur Abdullayev, veterans of war and labor front, representatives of public organizations, culture workers and others attended opening ceremony.

Vladimir Tyurdenev said that it is symbolic that the exhibition starts on 22 June, when the World War II started. He said that the exhibition of archive documents help to persevere memory on historic events and contribution of Soviet Union people to victory over fascism.

On the same day, Tyurdenev, employees of the Russian embassy and their families took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Volgograd Memorial Cemetery to the Eternal Fire , as well as the burial place of the capsule with the earth and ashes Uzbeks, which was delivered here in 2002 from Piskaryovsky cemetery of St. Petersburg, where about 7,000 people from Uzbekistan were buried.
