Annual Meeting of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian countries to be held in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of participation in the third Eurasian Women’s Forum, held on 13-15 October in the city of St. Petersburg, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chairperson of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian Countries Tanzila Narbaeva met with heads of delegations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to this event.

Tanzila Narbayeva informed about the consistent national measures taken in Uzbekistan to ensure gender equality, as well as the country’s efforts for regional cooperation in this direction within the framework of the chairmanship of the Uzbek side in the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asia. It was noted that the Uzbek side seeks to turn this structure into a solid platform for regular consultations and exchanges between women of Central Asian states in various areas, including issues of preventive diplomacy, ensuring gender equality, expanding political, socio-economic, cultural and humanitarian rights and opportunities of women.

In accordance with the Dialogue Action Plan for 2021, since the beginning of the year, a number of joint events have been held, which have created a positive dynamic of regional and bilateral interaction between women in Central Asia.

The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan invited the delegations of Central Asian countries to take an active part in the upcoming events, in particular in the Regional Conference on Sustainable Development and Women’s Leadership in Central Asia (on 28 October in Tashkent), the Regional Training Camp for Girls on Leadership , mentoring and gender equality (on 10-12 November in Tashkent region), the inaugural meeting of the Discussion Club of Women Entrepreneurs of Central Asia (on 24 November in Tashkent) and the Regional Forum on the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution No. 1325 (in December, Tashkent ).

Delegations of neighboring countries, represented by the Chairperson of the National Commission on Women Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy under the President of Kazakhstan L. Ramazanova, Deputy Torag of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic A. Kasymalieva, Deputy Chairperson of the Majlisi Namoyandogan Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan D. Mansuri, highly appreciated the efforts of Uzbekistan for development dialogue and practical cooperation between women leaders in Central Asia.

The opinion was expressed that such interaction for the exchange of experience and best practices on gender issues is in the interests of all women in the region. In this regard, their commitment was noted to continue cooperation in this direction, both in bilateral and multilateral formats with the support of international partners, in particular UN structures, to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in Central Asia.

Women leaders of Central Asian countries have agreed to hold an annual meeting of the Dialogue in Tashkent in December this year.
