Andijan regional administration denies allegations against regional governor
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The press service of the Andijan Regional Administration has issued an official statement in response to allegations circulating about alleged unlawful actions by regional governor Shukhrat Abdurakhmonov involving a minor.
According to the statement, on 9 May, blogger Ulugbek Ashur published a video on his YouTube channel containing serious accusations against the governor, which, according to the administration, are entirely unfounded. The claims involve a resident of Andijan who allegedly possesses evidence that the governor committed crimes by providing housing to a woman and her 15-year-old daughter, employing the mother, and repeatedly abusing the girl.
The administration firmly rejected these accusations, stating that such publications — based solely on the words of individual citizens and lacking any substantiating evidence — constitute an attack on the honor, dignity, and professional reputation of a public official.
The statement emphasized that information circulating on social media from dubious and illegal sources would be subject to legal review, and that a complaint has already been filed with law enforcement regarding the dissemination of defamatory content.
“All those responsible will be held accountable in accordance with the law. We urge citizens to rely only on official information and not to fall for provocations,” the press service declared.
