Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The governor of the Andijan region, Shukhratbek Abdurakhmonov, has personally presented the state medal “Jasorat” (Bravery) to the family of Senior Lieutenant Abdurasul Abduvaliev, a mahalla prevention inspector from “Yuksalish” in Khojaabad district, who tragically died in the line of duty.

The award was granted posthumously in recognition of his exceptional courage and selflessness in the face of a threat to the lives and safety of citizens.

The tragic incident occurred on 1 July, when Abdurasul Abduvaliev responded to a call from a local household in the mahalla, where a 65-year-old man, Yunusali Kholbozorov, was threatening his relatives with a knife while under the influence of alcohol. While attempting to disarm and neutralize the assailant, the inspector was fatally stabbed in the chest. Despite receiving first aid, he died en route to the hospital.

Following the attack, the suspect fled the scene, and a manhunt was launched. On the morning of July 4, he was found hiding among corn stalks in the cemetery area of the “Yuksalish” mahalla. During his arrest, Kholbozorov attempted to take his own life by stabbing himself in the abdomen.

A criminal case has been opened against the suspect under subparagraph “g” of part 2 of Article 97 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan — “Intentional murder of a person in connection with the performance of official duties.” The investigation is ongoing.
