Andijan Region and China to Launch US$500 Million Hydropower Project
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During a working visit of the Andijan region delegation to Hunan Province, China, the hokim of Andijan region met with the leadership of Sichuan Power Transmission & Transformation Construction.
The parties discussed the modernization of the region’s energy infrastructure and identified concrete steps for implementing joint projects.
As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached to launch a US$500 million investment project, which includes the construction of a 200-megawatt hydropower plant and the modernization of existing substations.
Cooperation with the Chinese side is aimed at developing Andijan region’s energy potential, introducing advanced technologies, and expanding the use of renewable energy sources.
Upgrading the electrical networks and enhancing environmental sustainability will be an important stage in strengthening the region’s energy security.
