Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 March 2021, an online meeting of the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva with representatives of the Caucus of the US Congress on Women was held.
It was attended by members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the United States J. Vakhabov, representative of Puerto Rico in Congress, member of the House of Representatives committees on transport and infrastructure, science and technology and natural resources J. Gonzalez-Colon, member Committees of the House of Representatives on Judicial Procedure, National Security and Budget Sh. During the dialogue, it was noted that in recent years, bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation has reached a qualitatively new level. The parties discussed issues of expanding and deepening inter-parliamentary ties between Uzbekistan and the United States, exchange of experience. It was noted that thanks to the historic visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the United States, the bilateral dialogue of parliamentarians has intensified.
The parties stressed the importance of developing trade, economic, financial and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States.
At the meeting, a high assessment was given to the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, the development of inter-parliamentary interaction between states.
The American side was informed in detail about the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan.
According to the congressmen, favorable conditions have been created in Uzbekistan for the full and equal participation of women in the social, political and economic life of the country.
The American side welcomed the leading role of Uzbekistan in launching the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian Countries, which will give new dynamism to regional cooperation in the field of protecting the rights, freedoms and interests of women.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
