Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 18 February 2021, an international conference was held on the theme "The role of youth in the fight against terrorism, extremism and radicalism."

The event, organized by the Agency for Youth Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a number of state bodies and departments, was attended by representatives of the SCO, CIS, OSCE, the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ) and other international organizations, members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, experts.

Within the framework of the conference, issues of further strengthening the fight against terrorism, extremism and radicalism among the youth of the member countries of this structure, as well as effective joint work in this direction were discussed.

It was noted that the program "Year of Support for Youth and Strengthening the Health of the Population" pays special attention to strengthening support for young people in society. Over the past three years, the number of higher educational institutions in the country has grown by 60 percent, today their number has reached 116, which is also the result of ongoing reforms in this direction.

During the conference, the Secretary General of the Council for Cooperation with Turkic-speaking Countries Bagdat Amraev, Executive Director of the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Measures and Confidence in Asia Kairat Saribay, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee - Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev, Deputy UN Secretary General Vladimir Voronkov and responsible representatives of a number of other authoritative international structures spoke at the event.

Speaking at the event, a member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Farhod Bokiev, focused on the legal and institutional framework, international and national features of the fight against terrorism and radicalism among youth.

At the meetings of 4 sectors on certain topics of the videoconference program, international experts, observers from foreign countries exchanged experience on the effective fight against terrorism, extremism and radicalism.
