Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In Khiva (Khorezm region), due to a gas leak on 8 January at about 03:41, an explosion of a gas-air mixture occurred. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan.

The walls and roof of the building collapsed, and a fire broke out in the result of the explosition.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the daughter of the owner of the house, born in 2005, died as a result of the incident. Her father was taken to hospital with burns.

The Emergency Situations Ministry notes that the cause of the explosion could have been a violation of the rules for the use of natural gas.
