Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 16 November, on the territory of the Pakhtakor stadium, an environmental campaign for planting trees was held. It was organized by the Athletics Federation of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the support of the State Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection and the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan.

The event was organized in support of the large-scale initiative "Save Aral", within the framework of which sports mass races are held in the cities of Uzbekistan.

The main goal of the Save Aral sports races is to draw public attention at the national and international level to one of the global environmental disasters of the 20th century - the drying up of the Aral Sea and intensification of measures to solve it and create a sustainable, safe and healthy environment for future generations. The Save Aral project directives are also aimed at promoting healthy and sustainable lifestyles among the population.

Within the framework of the International high-level conference "Aral Sea Region - a zone of environmental innovations and technologies" held in 2019, on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the "Save Aral" project was launched for the first time in the cities of the country. In total, the Save Aral races were held in 45 cities: in the first year - in 6 cities, in the second - in 16 cities, in 2021 10 cities were covered and the final point of the sports route will be Tashkent. About 20 thousand people took part in the races this year.

It is the sports movement that can become that impulse, thanks to which the ideas of rational nature management and respect for natural resources can be widely introduced among the population. As part of the action, more than 50 seedlings of plane trees, elm, scarlet, catalpa and khila catalpa were planted along the Pakhtakor stadium.

“A healthy ecological environment is the foundation for the full-fledged physical development of every person, for high-performance sports and mass sports,” notes the chairman of the Athletics Federation Andrei Abduvaliev. “We are constantly raising the question of how sport can contribute to the improvement of the environment.

The final stage of the Save Aral - 2021 charity race and the sports team relay race - Ekiden will take place on 20 November also at the Pakhtakor stadium. The events are timed to the Day of the adoption of the state flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Everyone is invited to the races - not only professional athletes, but also runners. Sports equipment will be provided for participants in sports events. The number of participants is limited.
