Amir Temur Square in Tashkent to Close for Renovation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Amir Temur Square in the Yunusabad district of Tashkent will be temporarily closed from 23 March to 7 April 2026, due to comprehensive landscaping and renovation works, the city administration reported.

The restrictions will apply exclusively to the internal territory of the square, bordered by Mahtumkuli, Istikbol, and Sayilgoh streets, as well as Amir Temur and Mustaqillik avenues. Access to the square will be fully restricted around its entire perimeter during this period.

The renovation project includes repairs and partial replacement of pedestrian walkways, modernization of engineering networks and irrigation systems, and additional greening measures. The upgraded irrigation system is expected to optimize water use and enhance the maintenance of green spaces.

Authorities emphasized that existing trees and plants will not be affected. In fact, additional planting and landscaping measures are planned to further improve the area’s greenery.

Traffic on surrounding streets will remain unchanged, and roadside parking will still be available. However, metro exits leading directly into the square will be closed for the duration of the works.

City officials apologized for any temporary inconvenience and expressed gratitude to residents for their understanding.
