American stylist incorporates Uzbek fabrics into exquisite designs
Attended by celebrities such as actress Cynthia Bailey, fashion designer Zang Toi, the producers of the film ‘Terminator Salvation’ Victor Kubicek and Derek Anderson, writer Beatrix Ost and the editor-in-chief of ‘Essence’ magazine Constance White, the fashion show presented men’s and women’s designs from silk, velvet, adras and leather.
The highlights of Brewster’collection included a dark blue velvet dress with gold-embroidered elements as well as a hand-embroidered bright yellow adras scarf that were in a class by themselves.
On his website American celebrity photographer Liam McMullan, who was among the host of international guests at Style.Uz Art Week in 2012, posted photos from and his impressions of the show. After the show McMullan got talk to Brewster, who told him he had brought beautiful textiles back from Tashkent and had been using them in some of his new pieces.
Sharing her impressions of the new collection, fashion executive and PR specialists Anait Kiladze, who also attended last year’s Style.Uz Art Week in Tashkent, said that “the masterful use of Uzbek textiles in this amazing collection is a result of successful promotion of Uzbekistan’s cultural legacy and unique art under Fund Forum’s auspices”.
Kithe Brewster attended Style.Uz Art Week, one of Fund Forum’s far-reaching art projects, in October 2011. He contributed to Victor de Souza’s fashion show in Tashkent and led a workshop geared for young Uzbek designers and stylists. Charmed by Uzbek culture and national arts, he promised he would come back to Tashkent. “I encourage the world to see the magical country with an incredible mixture of culture and charm,” he said while in Tashkent.
