Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At a regular meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis in the second reading, a draft law "On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with improving the legal framework for the adoption procedure" was considered.

According to the current legislation, the adoption of a minor is not allowed to persons previously convicted of intentional crimes. The bill stipulates a relaxation of this restriction.

During the discussion, the issue of the impossibility of being adoptive parents of persons who did not have a permanent income during the year prior to the date of adoption or who have income less than the minimum monthly wage caused disagreement on the part of the deputies. It was noted that most of the able-bodied population is engaged in daily and seasonal work and entrepreneurial activities. In this regard, this rule has been excluded, since it creates bureaucratic obstacles for adoptive parents.

It was emphasized at the meeting that the adoption of this bill will contribute to the full protection of the rights of children, the suppression of cases of adoption of children by illegal means, especially the trafficking of children. The draft law was adopted in the second reading.
