Amendments and additions have been made to the Customs Code

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The law "On amendments and additions to the Customs Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was signed by the President.

In accordance with the additions made, the Code defines the legal status of authorized economic operators (granting the right to participants in bona fide foreign economic activity to apply simplified customs procedures).

The Code has been amended to abolish the requirement to obtain a certificate for customs procedures of re-export, temporary export, re-import, temporary import, destruction.

Obtaining a permit is required only in the customs regimes of processing goods outside the customs territory, processing in the customs territory.

The Code introduced the concept of a transit declaration, according to which the transit declaration is a document submitted to the customs authority indicating information about the goods and (or) transport and used to control goods imported into the customs territory and transported in transit through the territory of Uzbekistan from the customs authority of the sender to the customs authority where the goods arrive.

The law comes into force in 3 months from the date of its official publication.
