Ambassador of Uzbekistan discusses with the Mayor of Kiev issues of intensifying bilateral cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In order to further expand cooperation through twinning relations between Tashkent and Kiev, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Kurmanov met with the mayor of the capital of Ukraine Vitaly Klitschko, Dunyo news agency reported.

Despite the fact that twinning relations between the two cities were established in January 1998, a noticeable drop in activity between the capitals of the two countries dictates the need to form new approaches to the development of relations between the two megacities.

It was on this understanding that a friendly exchange of views took place, during which the issues of intensifying inter-municipal cooperation through the formation of a joint "roadmap" for saturating interaction with specific measures in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as organizing mutual visits of heads of cities were substantively discussed.

As the mayor of Kiev noted, the formation of the "road map" will make it possible to transfer cooperation to a specific format as soon as possible.

During the meeting, the Ukrainian side was also informed about large-scale reforms being implemented in the republic. Particular emphasis was placed on measures to liberalize the economy, support entrepreneurship and develop interregional cooperation.

In turn, the mayor of Kiev informed about the projects being implemented in the city by the city administration, and also outlined the main areas in which the twin cities could achieve tangible results in the short term, and expressed his readiness to provide all-round support in the activities of the Embassy to enhance bilateral relationships.
