Alisher Kadyrov: “People’s Health Has Become Fifth Priority — Drug Sales Come First”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Alisher Kadyrov, leader of the Milliy Tiklanish Party, linked the “younger age” of diseases such as heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, and cancer to the interests of the pharmaceutical business. According to him, for drug manufacturers, people’s health often takes a back seat, while the primary goal remains sales.

“Heart attacks have become younger, strokes have become younger, diabetes has become younger, cancer has become younger. Isn’t this all because of the pharmaceutical business? They profit from it. Our people’s health has become the fifth priority. The main focus is on selling medicines,” the deputy said.

Kadyrov also criticized the practice of prescribing expensive treatment courses: according to him, doctors often issue prescriptions worth several million soms, with a significant portion consisting of dietary supplements (BAS).

“If you look inside these medicines — there are just dietary supplements. What do dietary supplements have to do with diabetes?” he questioned, urging an end to what he called the “commodification of patients.”

The deputy emphasized that his criticism is not about the effectiveness of individual drugs, but about the need for systemic measures to stop the commercialization of healthcare and protect patients’ interests.
