Alimov: SCO mission recognizes presidential elections as open

Elections of the President of Uzbekistan met requirements of election legislation of Uzbekistan and international obligations, adopted by the country, SCO Secretary General Rashid Alimov said on 5 December 2016.
Head of the SCO observation mission stated that the mission did not notice violations of norms of national legislation, which would question legitimacy of the elections.
The mission recognizes elections as open, free and democratic. The mission stated that the presidential elections were important step in further developing democratic processes in Uzbekistan.
