Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 14 September, a two-day scientific and practical conference on the theme: "The contribution of the Leaders of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to strengthening friendship, good neighborliness and trust, opening a new page of the Tajik-Uzbek strategic partnership" began in Dushanbe.
The event, organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the National Library of the country, is attended by a representative delegation from Tashkent, consisting of prominent scientists, researchers and leading experts of the country, headed by the First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Academician Akmal Saidov.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, the head of the Uzbek delegation, academician A. Saidov emphasized that unprecedented favorable opportunities are opening up in the relations between the two countries for the comprehensive expansion of political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties for the benefit of the peoples of the two fraternal countries. In this regard, according to A. Saidov, today it is fundamentally important to deeply comprehend the emerging realities, to determine the priority areas of mutually beneficial cooperation, to achieve concrete results.
At the same time, he highlighted the key and central role of the leaders of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in building and maximizing the development of full-fledged ties, determining and implementing the development strategy of the two countries. According to him, it is thanks to the strong political will and far-sighted wise policy of the Presidents that the multifaceted cooperation and friendly ties of the two countries have risen to a qualitatively new level - the level of strategic partnership.
“The fateful and breakthrough in importance meetings of the leaders of the two countries in the capitals of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in 2018 demonstrated the inviolability of the friendship of Uzbeks and Tajiks, tested over centuries,” the parliamentarian stated.
The established high level of political dialogue, mutual trust between the leaders of the two countries and the practical measures taken to comprehensively improve relations between states, according to the academician, have become vivid proof to the entire world community that there cannot be disagreements between states that cannot be resolved if the leaders of the countries show strong political will, mutual understanding and respect for each other’s interests.
In his speech, the head of the Uzbek delegation also focused on the existing completely new atmosphere of good-neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation in Central Asia.
According to A. Saidov, each state in the region makes a worthy contribution to ensuring stability and prosperity in Central Asia. Thanks to the political will and practical steps of the leaders of the region’s countries, states are reaching a higher level of interaction. Solidarity and vigorous efforts open up great opportunities for multifaceted regional cooperation.
Rapprochement and expansion of cooperation in the region is a demanded and irreversible process, A. Saidov believes. It is based on a firm political choice, has deep historical prerequisites and is not directed against anyone’s interests, the head of the Uzbek delegation quoted the President of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev.
The conference continues. In addition to plenary sessions, sectional meetings are also envisaged, during which experts and specialists of the two countries will discuss a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation.
