AKFA University included in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- AKFA University became the first non-governmental higher education institution of Uzbekistan, which was included in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking.

THE Impact Ranking was published today by Great Britain’s Times Higher Education, which specializes in covering important issues of higher education and is one of the leaders in assessing the quality of university performance.

The ranking is devoted to assessing the impact of universities on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), formulated by the United Nations for the period up to 2030. To participate in the overall THE University Impact Rankings, the university must participate in at least four SDGs, including SDG 17 – Partnership for Sustainable Development. The pilot ranking was released in 2019. In 2020, the ranking was published for the first time for all 17 SDGs.

AKFA University, which started its activities in 2019, was included to THE Impact Ranking for the first time. In the overall ranking, AKFA University entered the 1001+ group with 29.5 points. About 1115 universities were included in the overall THE University Impact Rankings.

It should be noted that AKFA University took part in six of the 17 SDGs:

SDG 1 – End poverty in all its forms everywhere: 301-400 place among 591 universities of the world

SDG 3 – Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages: 801+ place among 871 universities of the world

SDG 5 – Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls: 601+ place out of 776 universities of the world

SDG 8 – Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all: ranked 401-600 out of 685 universities of the world

SDG 16 – Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels: 401-600 place among 653 universities of the world

SDG 17 – Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development: 1001+ place among 1,154 universities of the world

For the first time, our university was included in one of the most prestigious rankings of world universities. This remarkable achievement is the result of the hard work of the entire team of our university and its founder – AKFA Medline. Our future goal is to improve our ranking in THE Impact Ranking and enter the ranking of the best universities in the world – THE World University Rankings, Rector of AKFA University Bekhzod Djalilov said.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
