AirAsia X to launch regular flights between Kuala Lumpur and Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Karomiddin Gadoev held a meeting with Kamarudin Meranun, Chairman and Co-founder of the Malaysian company Capital A Berhad (which operates under the AirAsia brand), and Benjamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X, as reported by the Dunyo news agency.

During the negotiations, it was announced that AirAsia X Berhad would begin ticket sales for the Kuala Lumpur–Tashkent–Kuala Lumpur route in May, with regular flights set to commence in September this year, operating four times a week.

The Chairman of Capital A Berhad expressed the company’s ambition, in collaboration with Uzbekistan Airways and network operators, to transform Uzbek cities into major aviation hubs connecting Southeast Asia with Central Asia and the CIS.

Additionally, Ikhlas, a tourism company within the Capital A Berhad group, has declared its readiness to actively cooperate with Uzbek tour operators to boost the flow of religious pilgrims from Malaysia and Indonesia.

In the coming months, a company delegation plans to visit Uzbekistan to implement the project and familiarize itself with the country's tourism infrastructure.

Capital A Berhad Group is Asia’s largest low-cost airline, operating a fleet of 200 aircraft. The group includes six airlines—AirAsia Malaysia, AirAsia X, AirAsia Thailand, AirAsia Indonesia, AirAsia Philippines, and AirAsia Cambodia—serving a network of over 160 destinations across Asia and Oceania.
