AirAsia Launches Direct Flights Between Kuala Lumpur and Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — AirAsia has launched direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Tashkent. The first flight on the Kuala Lumpur–Tashkent route landed at the Uzbek capital’s international airport on 15 October 2025, at 17:40.

The aircraft carried 218 passengers, and the flight was welcomed with a water salute and flowers for the crew.

Passenger check-in and the welcome ceremony were held in a festive atmosphere. Representatives of AirAsia and Uzbekistan Airports participated in the cutting of a red ribbon and a ceremonial cake. A national dance ensemble performed for the guests, adding a special cultural touch and emphasizing the significance of the event.

An AirAsia representative noted that the new route aims to strengthen ties between Malaysia and Uzbekistan, as well as to promote tourism and business cooperation.

“AirAsia strives to make travel accessible and inspiring for passengers,” he said. Meanwhile, Umid Hamraev, First Deputy Director of Uzbekistan Airports Handling, expressed confidence in strong demand for the flights and assured that the airport would provide comfortable passenger service.

Flights on the Kuala Lumpur–Tashkent–Kuala Lumpur route will operate three times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—using wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft.

The new route opens additional opportunities for tourism and business travel between the two countries, enhancing air connectivity and bilateral relations.
