Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Demonstration exercises of the Air Defense Forces and the Air Force of the Ministry of Defense were held at the Chirchik airfield.

The Day of the Air Fleet of Uzbekistan is a professional holiday for all workers of the aviation infrastructure of Uzbekistan, as well as those associated with the Air Fleet of our country.

At the Chirchik airfield, air defense and Air Force troops conducted demonstration exercises. They involved MiG-29 fighters, Su-25 bombers, Il-76 transport aircraft, helicopter aviation, Eurocopters H-125 and H-215, the press service of the ministry said.

Representatives of the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and officers of the Air Defense Forces and the Air Force also honored the memory of the pilots who died in the line of duty, and visited the homes of veterans.

According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated July 21, 1995 No. UP-1206 "On the establishment of the Day of the Air Fleet of the Republic of Uzbekistan" - taking into account the importance of the Air Fleet in strengthening the power and economy of the country, ensuring international and domestic communications, noting the contribution of thousands of servicemen of the Air Force and the teaching staff of educational institutions in the development of aviation in the aviation industry and training - the third Sunday of August is established as the "Day of the Air Fleet of the Republic of Uzbekistan".
