Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Presidential resolution "On measures to improve soil fertility and productivity, support the introduction of new irrigation technologies in cotton fields" was adopted.
According to the resolution, the following mechanisms will be introduced on an experimental basis to stimulate measures to improve the soil fertility of cotton areas carried out by users (tenants) of agricultural land in 2022–2023:
providing tax incentives for carrying out measures to improve soil fertility and protect against erosion;
partial exemption from land tax and the allocation of subsidies for the implementation of measures for the restoration, re-introduction into agricultural circulation, new development, melioration and reclamation of agricultural land.
In 2022-2023 on an experimental basis:
land users (including clusters) are allocated subsidies of one million soums per hectare of land to improve soil fertility and cotton yields, introduce new technologies for scientifically based crop rotation and irrigation, create plant protection services and modern laboratories;
tax incentives for improving soil fertility and cotton crop yields are applied to land users whose soil fertility has increased - based on the results of soil appraisal analysis;
land tax benefits are valid for 3 years.
According to the document, the experience of allocating subsidies will be tested in 13 districts according to the relevant list.
