Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 18 February, the capital’s Hilton Tashkent city hotel hosted the first international agricultural insurance conference AGRO INSURANCE CONFERENCE 2022 in Uzbekistan, organized by Semurg Insurance.

Agriculture is a key sector of our country’s economy and accounts for 28% of its gross domestic product. But! In recent years, agricultural producers in Uzbekistan have suffered large losses due to adverse climatic conditions. We also note reseeding as a result of frosts, heavy precipitation, soil crust; wind, fires, temperature changes; waterlogging during the cleaning period; damage from diseases and pests. These factors have a strong impact on agricultural productivity, which requires a special approach to insurance protection against the risks of the agro-industry.

Agricultural insurance experts told the conference participants about international best practices and the potential to improve the efficiency of the agricultural industry, demonstrating the possibilities of insurance in the field of crop protection and improving the quality of agriculture.

Insurance solutions work for the entire range of crops, the country is undergoing an agricultural reform, and the developed “Agricultural Development Strategy of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2020-2030” includes an important and necessary item “Agricultural insurance”.

Conference participants were the largest reinsurance companies from Switzerland, France and Germany, supporting Semurg Insurance for cotton and winter wheat insurance in Uzbekistan: Swiss Re, Hannover Re, Scor Re and Axis Re, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, agricultural producers, the Council of Farmers, Dekhkan Farms and Homestead Land Owners, the Agency for the Development of the Insurance Market under the Ministry of Finance and other organizations.
