AGMK to launch first phase of new copper concentration plant in July 2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine (AGMK) plans to commission the first production line of its third copper concentration plant in July 2025.
This is outlined in the draft state program for 2025, which has been made available for public review.
Construction and installation work on a cyclic-flow technology system with a transport capacity of 65 million tons of ore is expected to be completed by May 2025.
By June, the delivery, installation, and assembly of key technological equipment required for the plant’s operation will be finalized.
The new plant will process up to 60 million tons of ore annually, increasing AGMK’s total ore processing capacity from 40 million to 100 million tons per year.
The project is funded by AGMK’s own resources and loans from international banks, with the total cost of the modernization program estimated at US$4.8 billion. Full completion of the project is scheduled for 2026.
In addition, construction of the fourth copper concentration plant began at AGMK in October 2024.
