AGMK Launches New Emulsion Explosives Plant
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine (AGMK) has commissioned a modern emulsion explosives plant, marking a key step in the development of the Yoshlyk I deposit and strengthening the enterprise’s industrial capacity.
The opening ceremony was attended by AGMK Board Chairman Abdulla Khursanov, company division heads, and industry veterans.
In his remarks, Khursanov emphasized that the new facility meets the latest safety and quality standards and will enhance the efficiency of mining operations at the Kalmakkyr and Yoshlyk I mines.
The plant has an annual production capacity of 90,000 tons of emulsion explosives. It is designed to use local raw materials, ensuring a more sustainable and cost-effective production process.
Special attention has been given to environmental protection and resource efficiency. The plant features treatment facilities capable of processing up to 25 cubic meters of process water per day, which is then returned to the production cycle. This water-recycling system reduces production costs and significantly conserves water resources.
To improve energy efficiency, a solar power station has been installed to meet the energy needs of the administrative and utility buildings. In addition, emission control and waste management systems comply with international environmental standards.
Digital technologies are actively integrated into the production process. An automated monitoring system controls key stages without operator intervention, enhancing both equipment safety and reliability.
The plant was built by AGMK with the participation of Olmalikmetallurgkurilish Trust and other company units. The total project cost amounted to 81 billion soums, creating 68 new jobs.
AGMK’s first emulsion explosives plant was constructed in 1997. The new facility is the company’s second in this segment and represents a significant technological upgrade for the industry.
