Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In Kabul, a meeting was held between Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and Deputy Head of the Interim Government of Afghanistan Abdul Salam Khanafi.

During the meeting, the implementation of the agreements reached during the stay of the Afghan delegation in Termez in October 2021 in the areas of border security, cooperation in investment, trade, energy, international cargo transportation and transit, education and the humanitarian field was considered.

In particular, priority tasks were considered to increase mutual trade and eliminate existing trade and transport barriers. In this context, it was proposed to use the capabilities of the Termez International Trade Center, which combines a logistics center, production and storage facilities, product distribution points and the necessary infrastructure on its territory.

The Afghan side expressed its readiness to support the initiatives of Uzbekistan to implement joint infrastructure projects in Afghanistan aimed at increasing the transport and transit potential of the countries of the region. In particular, an agreement was reached on joint work to develop mutually acceptable conditions for the movement of vehicles and goods moving through the territory of Afghanistan, with the prospect of increasing its transit capabilities through the introduction of alternative transportation routes.

The parties also discussed ways of interaction in various areas of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation and identified priority tasks for resolving existing issues in priority areas.

Following the meeting, mutual readiness was expressed to continue active interaction aimed at establishing and strengthening ties between Afghanistan and the countries of Central Asia.
