Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Afghanistan has donated white marble extracted from Herat Province to Uzbekistan for the construction of the Imam Bukhari Complex in Samarkand.

The handover ceremony took place at the International Trade Center in the city of Termez. The event was attended by Ismatilla Ergashev, Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan; Ulugbek Kasimov, Governor of Surkhandarya Region; Mullah Abdul Wase, Head of the Secretariat of the Prime Minister of Afghanistan; and a delegation led by Mohammad Yousuf Wafa, Governor of Balkh Province.

During the meeting, both sides discussed prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in various areas, including trade and economic ties, transport connectivity, as well as humanitarian and cultural exchanges.

Following the talks, Uzbekistan received 16 heavy-duty trucks carrying marble from Herat. The material will be used in the construction and decoration of the complex dedicated to the renowned Islamic scholar Imam Bukhari.
