ADF delegation visits Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the French Development Agency (Agence Française de Développement, ADF) held talks at the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan.

The meetings took place as part of the visit of the Executive Director for Operations of the AFR Jean-Pierre Marcelli to Uzbekistan on 24-26 June 2021. This is the first visit of such a high-ranking representative of the ADF leadership during the agency’s activity in the republic.

The main purpose of the meeting at the Ministry of Finance was to discuss projects implemented by the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with ADF.

As a result of the meeting, the parties reached agreements on further joint cooperation and participation of the ADF in the process of economic reforms in Uzbekistan.

During the meeting at the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, issues of cooperation with the French Development Agency on a strategy for the transition to a "green economy", energy efficiency and capacity building were discussed.

At the meeting, the parties also exchanged views on supporting the national strategy for the transition to a "green" economy in order to qualitatively develop a new program of state loans and attract "green" investments, as well as to increase the capacity of personnel in the field of "green" macroeconomic forecasting and planning.

During the meeting, proposals were made by the PAR on the development of financial and non-financial instruments to support the "green" economy.

The parties also discussed and exchanged views on the Green Economy Financing Mechanism (MEPF) project, which is being implemented in Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the Green Economy Financing Mechanism project, information was provided on the allocation of loans to small and medium-sized enterprises for the introduction of green technologies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to continue further cooperation in all priority areas.
