Additional Electric Buses to Be Delivered to Samarkand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Samarkand continues to expand its environmentally friendly public transport system under the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s (EBRD) “Green City” program.

In the first phase, the city has already received 100 electric buses along with the necessary charging equipment.

Regional hokim Adiz Boboev met with EBRD representatives and consultants to discuss the project’s prospects, future phases, the procurement of modern electric buses, and the creation of infrastructure to support their efficient operation.

Particular attention was given to the construction of a depot, adherence to deadlines, and ensuring the facility meets technological requirements.

The parties also discussed a land plot designated for the project’s second phase, which envisions expanding route networks and developing additional infrastructure. This will improve mobility for residents and visitors of Samarkand.

Adiz Boboev emphasized that the development of transport and road infrastructure is a key factor in improving the population’s quality of life, and affirmed readiness to provide full support for the project.

Following the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation and confirmed their intention to continue close collaboration to ensure the project’s successful implementation.
