ADB and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy Discuss Expansion of PPP Projects and Infrastructure Initiatives

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 22 October 2025, a meeting took place between a delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), led by Takeo Koike, Head of the Market Development and Public-Private Partnership Office, and Ilhomjon Umurzakov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The discussions included Enrico Pinali, ADB Regional Director for Private Sector Development; Dmitry Kabrelyan, Senior Private Sector Development Specialist; Abdukodir Yakubov, Director of the Public-Private Partnership Development Department of the Ministry of Economy; and other responsible officials.

The parties discussed the development of mutually beneficial cooperation, the implementation of joint projects including public-private partnership (PPP) initiatives, as well as prospective plans and directions for further collaboration.

Special attention was given to ongoing PPP projects in Uzbekistan, their further development, technical support, and financing mechanisms.

In particular, the following areas were considered:

Creation of modern and sustainable heating systems in regional areas;

Construction of preschools and schools meeting contemporary standards;

Establishment of high-tech, multi-specialty hospitals;

Development of drinking water supply systems, efficient use of water resources, and modernization of irrigation systems.

Following the discussions, both sides agreed to develop mutually beneficial cooperation and conduct systematic and effective work to achieve the established objectives.
