ADB and Uzbekistan Discuss Expansion of Public-Private Partnership Projects in Healthcare and Economy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 26 January, a meeting was held in Tashkent between a delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), led by Kanokpan Lao-Araya, Head of the ADB Uzbekistan Resident Mission, and Jamshid Kuchkorov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan.

The meeting was also attended by ADB Senior PPP Specialist Dhaval Jamb, Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Asilbek Khudoyarov, Deputy Ministers of Economy and Finance Ilhomjon Umrzakov and Otabek Fazilkarimov, as well as other senior representatives of government agencies.

During the discussions, the parties explored prospects for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, the effective implementation of joint projects, and the current status and development plans for initiatives in Uzbekistan implemented under public-private partnership (PPP) mechanisms.

Special attention was given to the introduction of modern healthcare projects, including the construction of multidisciplinary hospitals, the application of advanced medical technologies, the integration of international best practices, and the alignment of medical institutions with global standards.

In addition, participants exchanged views on improving the efficiency of existing projects and enhancing their financing mechanisms.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their intention to strengthen cooperation and expand platforms for the exchange of experience and knowledge in these areas.
