ACWA Power continues work on the construction of wind power plants with a total capacity of 1000 MW in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The ACWA Power company (Saudi Arabia) continues to work on the construction of wind power plants (WPPs) in Uzbekistan with a total capacity of 1000 MW.

At the first stage of the project, land plots in different regions of Uzbekistan were studied. Peshku and Gijduvan districts of Bukhara region and Kanimekh district of Navoi region were selected as the most suitable for the location of the two wind farms.

The next step was the installation of equipment for determining wind readings. To date, 10 meteorological masts and 1 spider have been installed to record wind readings (indicators) in selected areas, another 7 meteorological masts are in the installation stage.

These devices are installed at altitudes of 100 and 120 meters to measure data such as wind speed, direction and duration, as well as indicators of changes in weather conditions.

By now, the topographic and geotechnical studies of the selected land plots have been completed and a report is being prepared based on the data received. Hydrological research continues.

The total cost of the project for the construction of the wind farm is estimated at 1.3 billion US dollars, it will be implemented through 100 percent direct investment.
