Acting Hokim of Samarkand Region Demands End to Corruption Among Officials

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Acting Hokim of the Samarkand region Adiz Boboyev demanded that local leaders put an end to bribery and corruption among officials during a meeting held on 15 October, emphasizing that people are fully aware of cases of illegal enrichment by government employees.

“Do you think people don’t know? They sit and watch everything. Everyone knows who built what house, who bought what car. You say the people are unaware? Everything is known. Let each one draw their own conclusions,” Boboyev said in the presence of district heads and representatives of law enforcement agencies.

He stressed that if corruption starts at the top, it inevitably spreads downward, and only personal integrity and leading by example can change the situation within public institutions.

The meeting also included an analysis of current anti-corruption measures and discussions on additional preventive actions, with special attention to public awareness efforts among labor collectives and residents of local mahallas.
