Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Republican Commission on the Enhancement of the Role of Women in Society, Gender Equality and the Family, paying special attention to protecting the rights of women and children, further strengthening responsibility for committing indecent acts against minors, put forward an initiative on the need elimination of violence and acts of harassment against women and minors and other negative cases.
To this end, by Senate Decree “On issues of reliable protection of the rights of women and children and violence committed against them”, a special working group was created to improve legislation aimed at reliable protection of the rights, freedoms and legal interests of women and children, it is entrusted with a number of tasks.
The Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Children’s Rights, representatives of the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Supreme Court, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the international organization UNICEF, the Republican Center for Social and Economic Development SABR, the Center for Support of Civic Initiatives took an active part in the working group , Republican Social Information Center Istiqbolli Avlod, Center for Legal, Economic, Social Support "Istiqlol Avlodi", Center for Support and Development of Initiatives "Nihol", legal scholars, public activists, representatives of the site Nemolchi.uz were included to the working group.
The working group of the Senate within the framework of parliamentary control studied the issues of improving legislation aimed at protecting the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of women and children, made an inventory of legal acts relating to this issue, analyzed the foreign experience of many countries.
In particular, the legislations of the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Sweden, Bulgaria, Australia, China, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries were studied.
The working group carried out activities from May to December 2022, as a result of which a comprehensive bill was developed that provides for amendments and additions to a number of laws. Due to the lack of a legislative initiative of the Senate, this bill was submitted to the Government in the prescribed manner (currently the bill is posted on the website Regulation.gov.uz).
The leadership of the Senate expresses gratitude to all representatives of state and non-state organizations, as well as scientists and members of the public who took an active part in the development of this bill. At the same time, it resolutely informs that the working group under the Senate will consistently continue its work on the adoption of this bill, its implementation and effective implementation in practice.
