ACCA and Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Accounts Sign Memorandum to Strengthen Public Sector Audit
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Uzbekistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlining expanded cooperation in the field of public sector auditing.
The agreement is aimed at enhancing auditors’ professional skills and advancing the country’s system of public financial control and audit. Janna Iskenova, head of ACCA’s Central Asia, Armenia, and Mongolia cluster, emphasized: “This MoU builds on our ongoing collaboration and reflects our shared commitment to strengthening public sector audit capacity in line with international standards. Through this partnership, ACCA is pleased to support the continuous professional development of auditors and contribute to improving the public finance system.”
The parties outlined a joint cooperation framework encompassing eight key areas. These include improving the quality of public sector audit practices, assisting Chamber of Accounts personnel in obtaining internationally recognized professional qualifications, and organizing educational and training programs in accordance with international standards.
The partnership also foresees joint initiatives to enhance transparency, accountability, and corporate governance principles.
Mehriddin Abdullaev, Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts of Uzbekistan, noted: “Signing the MoU with ACCA opens new opportunities for the Chamber to implement international standards, develop the professional competencies of our staff, and establish a modern public audit system. This is an important step in fulfilling the objectives set by the Presidential Decree and strengthening the institutional capacity of the Chamber.”
It is worth noting that in December 2025, ACCA, together with the Indonesian Institute of Chartered Accountants, signed an agreement to expand their partnership to support sustainable development of the accounting profession in Indonesia, reflecting ACCA’s global approach to advancing auditor qualifications and public audit standards.
