Absolute World Champion in Weightlifting Akbar Juraev Receives Presidential Gift

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Today, the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan hosted a ceremony honoring the winners and medalists of the World Weightlifting Championship held in Norway. The event was attended by officials from the Ministry of Sports, the NOC, and the National Weightlifting Federation.

Akbar Juraev, who won three gold medals and became the absolute world champion in the up to 110 kg weight category, was awarded a presidential gift — a BYD car — as well as a one-time cash prize in accordance with a government decree.

In addition, monetary rewards were presented to Ruslan Nurudinov, who won two bronze medals in the same discipline, as well as to the athletes’ coaches who contributed to their training and success on the international stage.
