Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – About 9,000 volunteers will participate in the third phase of clinical trials of a vaccine against coronavirus of the Chinese company Zhifei Loncom Biofarmaceutical. This was stated by the press service of the Ministry of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan.

Earlier it was reported that 5,000 volunteers from Uzbekistan will take part in the third phase of clinical trials of the ZF 2001 vaccine.

The ministry noted that the reason for the expansion of the trial coverage is the likelihood of a decrease in the number of study participants between the second and third doses of the drug.

Secondly, the ministry notes that studying the effect of the vaccine on recipients is becoming more difficult in Uzbekistan due to the stabilization of the situation with COVID-19 in the country.

The Ministry of Innovative Development recalled that half of the volunteers participating in the trials receive not a vaccine, but a placebo.
