About 537m tonnes of freight transported in Uzbekistan in 1H 2010

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- All types of transport in Uzbekistan carried out about 536.6 million tonnes of cargoes in the first half of 2010, which grew by 10.9% year-on-year. The freight turnover has decreased by 6% to 35.2 billion t-km.

About 481.9 million tonnes of freights were carried by motor transport, which is 13.1% more compared to January-June 2009. The freight turnover has increased by 5.5% to 10.1 billion t-km.

The freight turnover of motor transport of individual entrepreneurs grew by 7.8% year-on-year to 7.1 billion t-km. The share of private carriers in total freight turnover of motor transport was 69.8% versus 68.3% in January-June 2009.

About 14,100 tonnes of freights were carried by air transport, which is 2.8 times higher than in January-June 2009. The freight turnover grew 2.5 times to 82.9 million t-km. The freight turnover of main pipelines has decreased by 17.5% and made up 14.2 billion t-km.
