Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation and the Consulate General in Rostov-on-Don received applications from about 400 citizens of Uzbekistan who are on the territory of Abkhazia, with a request to assist in their return to their homeland. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

In order to promptly resolve this issue, the foreign ministry of the country has repeatedly sent the corresponding appeals to the Russian side to obtain permission for the citizens of Uzbekistan to cross the Russian border for their repatriation to their homeland.

The first group of citizens of Uzbekistan, consisting of vulnerable groups (women, pregnant women, the elderly and children) is planned to be sent to Uzbekistan in early October 2020.

The rest of the citizens will be returned to Uzbekistan as soon as the permission of the Russian side is obtained for the transit crossing of the State Border.
