Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A resolution of the President "On measures to raise activities to promote the study of foreign languages in the Republic of Uzbekistan" to a qualitatively new level was adopted.
According to the resolution, the Agency for the Promotion of the Study of Foreign Languages was established under the Cabinet of Ministers (Agency) and the posts of regional representatives of the Agency were established in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and the city of Tashkent.
The Director of the Agency and his deputies are appointed and dismissed by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Employees of the Agency for the conditions of remuneration, incentives and social protection are equal to employees of the central office of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education.
According to the resolution, from the 2021/2022 academic year in the districts (cities) on the basis of secondary educational institutions, 207 schools will be formed specialized in teaching foreign languages.
In order to encourage schools that have achieved the best results in teaching foreign languages, the President's Cup is established from 1 September 2021.
At the same time, competitions for the Cup are organized between secondary schools in the following three stages:
the first stage is held in districts and cities with awarding the winners in the amount of up to 100 million soums;
the second stage is held in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and the city of Tashkent with awarding the winners in the amount of up to 250 million soums;
the third stage is held at the republican level with awarding the winners in the amount of up to 500 million soums.
The practice of allocating to business entities a one-time subsidy of up to 50 million soums for organizing activities for teaching foreign languages in rural areas will be established.
