Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 May 2021, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia Peter Burian. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

The Minister congratulated Burian on the successful completion of his mission as the EU Special Representative for Central Asia and emphasized his personal contribution to the development of relations between Uzbekistan and the EU.

During the negotiations, the parties noted with satisfaction the significant intensification of the political dialogue and all-round cooperation of Uzbekistan with the European Union in recent years. Issues of further expansion of constructive interaction in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed.

The schedule of upcoming joint events was considered, including meetings of the High-level Dialogue "European Union - Central Asia" on political and security issues, the Cooperation Council "Republic of Uzbekistan - European Union".

They also exchanged views on the preparations for the High-Level International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Interconnectedness. Challenges and Opportunities”, held on 15-16 July 2021. in Tashkent.

The head of the EU Delegation to Uzbekistan, Ambassador Charlotte Adrian, took part in the negotiations.
