Abdulaziz Kamilov receives head of OSCE ODIHR mission

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Head of the core team of the Mission of observers from the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE ODIHR) for observation of presidential elections in Uzbekistan, Ambassador Peter Tejler on 14 December 2016.

The sides exchanged opinion on activities of the mission in Uzbekistan, which included 193 representatives from 36 states, including 20 long-term and 150 short-term observers, as well as perspectives of cooperation between Uzbekistan and OSCE ODIHR, including in issues of further improving election legislation.

Ambassador Peter Tejler congratulated the Uzbek side with completion of election campaign and the solemn ceremony of the inauguration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which was held at the joint session of the chambers of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan. He expressed gratitude for assisting to the activities of the mission.

Deputy head of the mission Polina Maria Lemos and expert Stefan Szwed also attended the meeting.
