Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 9 October 2020, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Sayyid Ali Asad Gilani.

The Minister received copies of the Ambassador’s credentials.

During the conversation, the state and priority areas for the further development of Uzbek-Pakistani relations, as well as interaction within the UN, SCO, OIC and other international organizations were discussed.

The parties exchanged views on issues of activating political, trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as on the schedule of upcoming contacts at various levels.

The dynamic growth of mutual trade was noted with satisfaction, as well as the huge potential for further increasing the volume of bilateral trade.

An interest was expressed in establishing a dialogue between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

Special attention is paid to the issues of expanding cooperation in promoting the peace process in Afghanistan, the implementation of transport, communication and energy projects in this country.

The meeting also exchanged views on certain issues of the international and regional agenda.
