Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 July 2021, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov held a meeting in Washington with the Secretary of State of the United States of America Anthony Blinken.

During the conversation, topical issues of further deepening and expanding the multifaceted strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States were discussed.

The head of the State Department shared the opinion that Uzbek-American relations have passed a long evolutionary path and are currently at their peak. Anthony Blinken stated that bilateral cooperation is expanding and getting stronger. At the same time, the parties emphasized the huge potential for further deepening the strategic partnership.

The Secretary of State expressed support for the reform program of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, including the protection of human rights and democratic transformation in our country.

The head of the State Department welcomed Uzbekistan's initiatives to promote good-neighborly relations with the countries of the region. Special attention is paid to the practical aspects of regional cooperation, including within the framework of the C5 + 1 format.

The US side thanked for Uzbekistan's efforts to achieve sustainable peace and stability in Afghanistan, expand regional interconnection, including through close political and economic cooperation with Afghanistan, which will serve the purposes of ensuring prosperity and growth in the vast expanse of Central and South Asia.

At the end of the conversation, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan invited the US Secretary of State to the International High-Level Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Interconnectedness. Challenges and Opportunities”, which will be held on 15-16 July 2021 in Tashkent.
