Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4 February 2022, the first steam turbine generator was put into operation at the Uzbekistan GTL plant to start its own electricity generation.
With the commissioning of the power generation unit, in the coming days, the GTL plant will begin to generate electricity not only necessary for its operation, but also supply additional electricity to the national power grid of Uzbekistan, in the amount of up to 45 MW, with a total output of up to 90 MW.
Additional generated capacities will provide electricity to the Shurtan gas chemical complex, the Shurtan oil and gas production department, as well as other industrial and social facilities, including residential buildings and business entities.
As part of a visit to the working group of Uzbekneftegaz, the Chairman of the Board instructed to study the possibility of connecting key oil and gas enterprises, including compressor stations installed at gas fields, to a single autonomous network based on the electricity generated by the GTL plant.
This decision will be implemented as part of the implementation of the instructions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to improve the stability of the energy system and uninterrupted supply of autonomous electricity to key production facilities, primarily oil and gas production facilities.
It should be noted that the autonomous production of electricity generated at the GTL plant is environmentally friendly and is carried out due to the excess steam generated during the technological process. In total, the GTL plant has two steam turbine generators that can generate up to 90 MW of electricity.
