Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The first power unit of a 270 MW gas piston thermal power plant was put into operation in Bukhara region on 31 December 2021.
The project was launched by the Turkish company Aksa Enerji, the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan said in a statement.
Currently, work is underway to connect the station to the unified energy system of Uzbekistan. Completion of work on connection to the unified power grid is planned in 2-3 days.
This TPP, which is the first in Bukhara region, is designed to generate 2.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.
The project will save 260 million cubic meters of natural gas per year through energy efficient equipment. The saved natural gas will generate an additional 900 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, which will provide electricity to 450,000 homes (with the help of this additional 900 million kilowatt-hours of electricity).
500 workers took part in the construction process; the launch of the TPP will create about 100 new jobs in the region.
