Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, a new gas piston power plant with a capacity of 174 MW was put into operation and began to supply power to the unified energy system of Uzbekistan in Khorezm region.

The project was implemented by the Turkish company Odash Enerji CA.

The power plant built in Yangiaryk district will generate 1.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.

Thanks to the high efficiency of the project equipment, 175 million cubic meters of natural gas will be saved annually.

The saved natural gas can generate an additional 800 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, which can power 350,000 homes a year.

The US$105 million project was fully funded by foreign direct investment from Odash Enerji CA.

During the construction, 350 workers were involved, and as a result of the project, 60 new jobs were created in the district.
