Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 August 2020, a telephone conversation was held between the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nurdinjon Ismoilov and the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Mustafa Şentop.

The leaders of the parliaments warmly congratulated each other on the last common holiday of all Muslims of the world, Kurban Hayit. During the conversation, issues of further development of cooperation between the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and the Parliament of the Republic of Turkey were discussed. The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament was also informed about the new composition of the inter-parliamentary group of the Oliy Majlis for cooperation with the Turkish parliament, about the main directions of the Uzbek parliament.

Mustafa Şentop emphasized that in these difficult days, Uzbekistan, like the entire international community, accepts the most serious challenge to humanity in modern history - the coronavirus pandemic, and thanks to the correct policy and effective anti-epidemic measures taken by the leadership of the republic in a timely manner, it can be argued that the country manages to minimize the consequences of the pandemic.

At the same time, he mentioned that the Turkish side is ready to continue to provide all-round support to the friendly people of Uzbekistan in the fight against the pandemic. In addition, during the conversation, the head of the Turkish parliament noted the positive achievements of Uzbekistan in raising the status of the parliament, strengthening its role in society.

In conclusion, the parties expressed satisfaction with the conversation and assured them of their readiness to further develop fruitful and constructive cooperation.
