A system of separate waste collection is being introduced in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution "On measures to improve activities in the field of handling household and construction waste in the city of Tashkent."

According to the resolution, the State Unitary Enterprise "Makhsustrans" and the State Enterprise "Chikindilarni kayta yuklash va utilization of kilish" from the system of the State Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection are transferred to the system of the khokimiyat of the city of Tashkent.

Activities in the field of waste management will be organized on the basis of public-private partnership with the participation of the State Unitary Enterprise "Makhsustrans".

Starting from 1 March 2021, the phased implementation of a separate collection system for solid household waste will be carried out in the following order:

at the 1st stage (2021) - waste collection with division into categories "recyclable" and "non-recyclable" on the territory of citizens' gatherings of makhallas, the list of which is determined by the khokimiyat of the city of Tashkent;

at the 2nd stage (2022) - collection of solid household waste in individual residential sectors of all territories served by the State Unitary Enterprise “Makhsustrans”, with their division into the categories “recyclable” and “non-recyclable”;

at the third stage (from 2023) - waste collection in all districts with division into categories “recyclable”, “non-recyclable”, “organic”, “hazardous household waste” and others.

In the first phase, consumers will be provided with free colored containers and / or recyclable bags.

Reduced tariffs for waste disposal will be established, taking into account waste sorted by consumers.
